A few weeks back, on Why is India Incapable of Stopping The Coronavirus?, I wrote about how The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that the coronavirus cases in India won’t reach its peak until mid-November.
Whether this is true or not, I want to speak about a breakthrough we might be seeing in the near future. Read More to learn about the vaccine that the ICMR is working on and how it will be ready by August 15th.
What’s The Issue With The Coronavirus Spread?
As we all know, the spread of the coronavirus hasn’t paused ever-since March. There has been a total of 10,694,288 coronavirus cases worldwide where about 5,480,394 people have recovered. Sadly, a total number of 516,210 people have died so far due to the coronavirus. For the past few months, many countries and corporations have been working day and night in order to solve this virus and pull off a vaccine.
I have a feeling that many people are thinking that the lockdown and many restrictions are reducing the spread of the coronavirus. However, if you look at the graph above, the graph looks so linear when it comes to the increase of cases over time.
I want to state that these restrictions might have only kept this graph from turning into an exponential curve. Therefore, these lockdowns only made sure to keep the situation under control to some extent—not solve it.
What’s The Update With The Vaccine?
Numbers in India have been spreading like wildfire where records are being set higher for new cases and deaths every day. A recent new article stated that India is recording about 22,000 cases every single day.
Until this moment, the number of coronavirus cases has hit a number of 625,544 where India might beat Russia for the 4th spot on the list. On the better side, about 379,891 people (about 1/2 the cases) have been healed so far with a low death count of 18,213.
“BBIL is working expeditiously to meet the target, however, the final outcome will depend on the cooperation of all clinical trial sites involved in this project.”Stated On The Hindustan Times
ICMR has written to Bharat Biotech International Limited (BBIL) to expedite coronary vaccination in clinical trials. The clinical trials will be held in 12 institutes in India along with some smaller ones.
It is envisaged to launch the vaccine for public health use latest by 15th August 2020 after completion of all clinical trials. BBIL is working expeditiously to meet the target, however, final outcome will depend on the cooperation of all clinical trial sites involved in this projectStated On ControlMoney
That is, by July 7th, ICMR has insisted on expanding the vaccine discovery. It is reported that if the test succeeds, the coronavirus vaccine will be available on August 15th. The ICMR has set a target for the use of coronavirus vaccines by this date.
It is noted that the BBIL is trying to develop the coronavirus vaccine from a virus strain that was sorted out by the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune. At this moment, results from animal trials have been quite successful where the wild type virus, Zydus, was able to offset the coronavirus.
After the July 7th deadline, it’s possible that human trials will begin all over India where more than 1,000 people will be tested.
If you have any questions/thoughts about how India celebrates Doctors Day on a different date or if you just had something to say, feel free to comment them down in the comment section below and I will get back to you ASAP.
