Coronavirus: Indian Railways Promises Refund for Most Tickets

The Railways Department has announced a full refund for those traveling on the train from March 21 to April 14. If the tickets booked at the Railway Reservation Center were canceled before March 27, the chief business manager, who filled out the ticket deposit receipt form, could give the zonal chief until June 21 and receive the balance. 

He said all cancellations after March 27 will be refunded in full. From another possibility, for those people who booked on the IRCTC website and they canceled the ticket before March 27, the remaining amount would be credited to his bank account.

“In the light of the o­ngoing emergency situation due to COVID 19 and the health hazards thereto to our passengers, all passenger carrying train services including suburban trains have been cancelled till 31st March 2020.”

The Chief Business Manager also said that the full amount will be paid to his bank account for cancellations after March 27. The Indian Railways Food and Tourism Corporation, IRCTC, said that the booked traveler can book the entire ticket through the website, via regular transaction, to their bank account. For those who want to book at the train station, they advice people not to go in person as the counters are closed for safety purposes. From April 15, the county said it could withdraw fees.
