Coronavirus: What you need to know about the Pandemic in Tamil Nadu

The coronavirus, which began just before the Chinese New Year in Wuhan, China, has spread worldwide. Although the virus has been controlled in China, it has unfortunately spread as a wildfire in countries like Italy, the United States and Spain. This new virus infections have spread so rapidly in the United States that the number of confirmed cases has exceeded Italy and any other country in the world.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths for the corona virus worldwide is increasing day by day. A total of 3,000 people have died in the last 24 hours where the total number of deaths due to coronavirus has risen to 27,352. Looking at the number of people that have been affected on a worldwide scale, that number has now reached 5,94,687. On the positive side, about 1,33,057 people that were infected by the virus are now recovered. 

Just from the state of Tamil Nadu, 3 more coronavirus cases have been added to the list where the tally now adds up to 38 cases that have been recorded from the coronavirus. Other than the 54-year old man in Madurai, the 12th COVID-19 patient, no other deaths have occurred in the southernmost state of India.

For details on the 3 new coronavirus patients in Tamil Nadu:

  1. A 73-year-old grandmother from Chennai
  2. A 39-year-old man
  3. A 61-year-old man from Salem have been diagnosed with coronary artery disease.

Focusing on the entire country, 19 deaths have been recorded in India due to the coronavirus. The Federal Health Department said the number of confirmed cases have made a leap from 748 people to 834 people being affected in the country.
