Police are actively investigating a fake tweet that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent to university officials and students on the social network demanding the immediate closure of Madurai Kamaraj University due to coronavirus.
According to the police, Madurai Kamaraj University officials and students have received an information about the WhatsApp number. Such information has been sent to the Vice Chancellor of the Madurai Kamaraj University to shut down the University of Madurai from his Twitter account in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The exact tweet that was released stated:
“I request the Vice Chancellor of #mku Madurai Kamaraj University to shutdown immediately, It is one of the best university of our country and we can’t risk the life of country’s best students.”
This tweet was posted on March 16th where the university has announced a holiday from March 17 to March 31 to prevent coronavirus at the behest of the higher education department. According to a complaint lodged by Madurai Kamaraj University Registrar Shankar, the police are conducting an investigation into the case.
